2016 has just started and you’re already tired!
You made a decision that this year would be different, so why are you already feeling stressed and anxious.
Here’s my top 5 tips to feed your soul, even when life seems over-whelming.
1) Get real
Take off your shoes, walk barefoot and feel a connection with the earth.
Taste the air and be grateful for the gift of breath.
Listen carefully; to the neighbourhood, the birds, your heart beat.
Stop and look. Notice how a seagull rides the up-drafts, that the sea is never really still or witness a slow-moving shadow.
Even when anxiety cramps your life, offer a smile, a positive thought or a kind word.
Be generous. Allow others the freedom to be who they are, without censure.
3) Express yourself
Even in the middle of an emotional storm you can write, cook, draw or swim.
It doesn’t matter that you may not finish. It’s the doing that make the difference and it will always be good enough!
4) Eat mindfully
Good food makes us happy.
Spend time preparing something you like.
Savour it, take a photo and enjoy the moment.
Slow food won’t make you fat.
5) Change your frame
Look up and notice the vastness of our universe. Use this view to give yourself permission to follow your heart.
Don’t be afraid to change your perspective. We all live with fears.
Don’t let anxiety stop you enjoying life.
Take baby steps. Lean into fear a little more each time. Test the edges and life will reward you. You are not alone.
